Heidi Klum has finally helped fulfill a promise made to her son Henry Samuel seven years ago, with the long-awaited reward turning out to be a Ferrari.
According to People, Klum surprised Henry, her son with ex-husband Seal, with a red Ferrari F430 for his 21st birthday on Saturday. The six-figure vehicle wasn’t just a lavish birthday gift, however. Henry had reportedly been waiting years to claim it after winning a childhood bet against his stepfather, Tom Kaulitz. Klum documented the surprise on Instagram, capturing the moment Henry stepped outside, saw the Ferrari, and appeared stunned by what was waiting for him.
“I can’t believe it is that time. You’ve been waiting for so many years,” Klum told him in the video.
Henry’s reaction was far less restrained. “Oh my God! Jesus Christ,” he exclaimed. “I don’t even know what to say.”
The Ferrari’s story goes back roughly seven years to a Christmas wager Henry made with Kaulitz. Klum shared an old clip showing Henry laying out the terms of the bet: If he lost a game of Mario Kart, he would be banned from playing video games for three months and would have to paint a picture of himself driving.
Winning, however, came with a much bigger reward.
“If I win, then Tom has to give me a Ferrari when I’m 21,” a teenage Henry declared in the throwback footage.
As it turns out, Kaulitz never forgot the deal. He revealed that he purchased the F430 at an auto show last year and kept the vehicle tucked away in the garage until Henry’s 21st birthday.
“You kept your promise,” Klum told her husband during the surprise, before reflecting on just how long the bet had lasted. “Literally, it’s what? Seven years ago when you guys said that?”
The birthday surprise arrives as Henry has become a more prominent presence alongside his famous mother. Earlier this year, he joined Klum at the amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival, where they coordinated their black-tie outfits and Henry’s resemblance to his father, Seal, caught plenty of attention.
At the time, Klum described Henry as one of her favorite companions for red-carpet events while Kaulitz was away traveling.
“What better date can you have than your own son?” she said, adding that she enjoys seeing her 20-year-old son experience major events for the first time. “I’m more appreciative that he comes with me, that he’s proud to be on my side.”
Henry is one of the children Klum shares with Seal, whom she married in 2005. Seal is Henry’s biological father and also adopted Klum’s eldest daughter, Leni.
Klum and Seal later welcomed their son Johan and daughter Lou before separating in 2012, with their divorce finalized in 2014.
Klum went on to marry Kaulitz in 2019, and he has remained an active and close presence in the lives of her children.
