Tory Lanez isn’t letting his prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion stop him from creating an experience for his fans. The Brampton rapper kicked off the “Not On ‘Tor’ Tour” in New York City on September 25th, followed by stops in Los Angeles, DC, New Orleans, and Pittsburgh. While he can’t physically attend the shows, the “tour” has served as a listening party supporting his recent album, and the New York City event showed just how much demand there is.
Because of the overwhelming response, the tour’s venues will now need to be upgraded to accommodate larger crowds.
“NY was INSANEEE … We now have to upgrade all cities to bigger venues. LA just upgraded to a larger venue , & put new tickets on sale in the bio,” a post on Tory Lanez’s Instagram page reads. “For Pittsburgh and New Orleans, tickets are being refunded until new dates and bigger venues are secured.”
The tour has featured listening parties, DJ sets, and appearances from special guests. In New York, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Bobby Shmurda, N3on, A$AP Ferg, and Pressa all showed up. With upcoming events planned for Los Angeles, DC, New Orleans, and Pittsburgh, more surprise appearances could be on the way.
However, the series of events hasn’t been without controversy. Many fans have voiced their disapproval of the live shows because of the circumstances surrounding Tory Lanez’s conviction. The issue was also discussed on a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, where co-hosts Marc Lamont Hill and Mona said they couldn’t support the initiative because of the case. QueenzFlip, however, took a different position, arguing that Tory is innocent and pointing to specific evidence that he believes supports the Canadian rapper’s claim of innocence.
The “Not On ‘Tor,’ Tour” continues in Los Angeles on October 15th at Catch One before heading to Washington, DC’s Culture on October 22nd.
