The punk icon Iggy Pop can’t say enough good things about Tyler, the Creator.
During his recent BBC 6 Music radio show Iggy Confidential, Pop reflected on working with Tyler and ASAP Rocky on a Harmony Korine-directed Gucci ad.
“Always been a fan of Tyler,” Iggy shared. “We worked together for a day, and I saw how he knows how to command attention. Plus he’s got real skills across the board – singing, dancing, writing – he’s got that classic talent but brings it with a modern twist.”
Ice Cube also gave Tyler props this week, praising him as someone who keeps it “100% authentic.”
During a HipHopDX interview, Cube shared, “That’s the side of L.A. folks don’t see, these super creative people who won’t fit into the gangbanging box. They’re gonna do their own thing. He reminds me of The Pharcyde.”
He added, “You’ll always have artists who stick to their own style, their own vibe, and make it work. They’re not playing by anyone else’s rules or trying to be what others want. They’re just being themselves, and you gotta respect that.”
