Hip-hop icon Dr. Dre shocked fans by hitting the stage with his protégé Anderson .Paak at the FireAid fundraiser, bringing some classic hits with him.
The Los Angeles Times reports the star-packed benefit was full of surprises, with Dre jumping in to perform his signature song “Still D.R.E.” and 2Pac’s “California Love.” After his quick performance, Dre thanked the crowd and called it “magical” to see everyone coming together for wildfire victims.
He made sure to give props to the firefighters who battled the blazes. While longtime partner Snoop Dogg helped support wildfire victims and shares credits on “Still D.R.E.,” he wasn’t there for the show.
The Kia Forum lit up Thursday, Jan. 30 with music’s biggest names showing up for California. The lineup was stacked – Billie Eilish, Green Day, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Katy Perry, Olivia Rodrigo, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers all took the stage. Fans could catch it all on Netflix and Twitch’s live streams.
Lady Gaga wrapped up the night performing hits from A Star Is Born plus something special. She told the crowd she’d been looking for a “hopeful” song but couldn’t find the perfect one. Instead, she treated them to a brand new track she said was created “just for” them.
