Pop Smoke Murder Suspect Accepts 29-Year Prison Term Through Plea Agreement

The lead adult suspect in Pop Smoke’s killing has struck a deal for a 29-year jail term.

Rolling Stone reports that on Wednesday (February 5), Corey Walker, 24, copped to home invasion robbery with a weapon, voluntary manslaughter and gang enhancements before his trial began. Walker also admitted to robbing Ameliia Rose, who was present in the Hollywood Hills rental where rapper Bashar Jackson, Pop Smoke, was gunned down.

Walker, then 19, allegedly masterminded the February 19, 2020 break-in and shooting, which happened after the “Welcome to the Party” rapper accidentally leaked his AirBnb location on Instagram Stories. Other suspects included two teens aged 15 and 17, plus 22-year-old Keandre Rodgers.

In 2023, the former 17-year-old suspect admitted to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery, getting four years with two months in juvenile treatment. The other teen faced juvenile charges.

Walker’s set to make his guilty plea official on February 21, receiving 29 years plus concurrent two-year terms for robbery and manslaughter.

Last summer, one of Smoke’s convicted killers, Blockstar, talked about the crime on No Jumper, showing zero regret. The rapper’s mom, Audrey Jackson, later blasted the interview on another podcast.

Pop Smoke, just 20, was briefly in Los Angeles on a four-day stay when four intruders – two teens and two adults – stormed his rental spot. Reports say the 15-year-old attacker beat Pop with a gun before shooting him and running off with the others. That shooter’s looking at staying locked up in juvie until he hits 25.
