Travis Scott’s been sharing more stories from his Houston Rockets ballboy days.
In a fresh chat with Billboard, the rapper looked back on witnessing Tracy McGrady’s epic 2004 performance, dropping 13 points in just 33 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs.
“I was a ballboy for the Rockets when T-Mac was about to leave [the team in the late 2000s] and he was kind of fizzling out,” said Scott. “I always wanted him to win.”
Scott previously spilled some tea about his ballboy experiences during a 2020 Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance.
“We wasn’t too much of a star-studded team at that time,” Scott said. “We weren’t supposed to talk to star athletes, but one day, Melo gave me his headband, signed his headband. Which is so funny, he probably doesn’t remember this.”
He then dropped a bombshell memory: “I met Kobe there and he signed a ball for me,” he explained.
When asked to dish more about his ballboy duties, Scott playfully dodged the question, protecting the sacred “code of honor” between players and ballboys.
“Shout out all my ballboys out there,” he laughed. “Y’all know what’s going down, man. Hold it down for the team players. … We never tell.”
The interview also caught Scott showing mad respect for Tom Brady’s legacy. “12 is one of my favorites,” said Scott, giving a nod to Brady’s iconic number. “I go to him when it comes to achieving the highest level of greatness. I have a couple of people I can name [when I need advice], but 12 is somebody I can turn to when it comes to that because time and time again, when it comes to having to go and get it, I’ve seen him do it.”
