Aubrey Plaza’s SNL50 outfit packed a touching tribute to her late love.
The star rocked up in a sharp black suit and blazer combo, adding a tie-dye tee to introduce Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard. But as People reveals, that colorful shirt wasn’t just a random fashion pick.
The tie-dye wasn’t random – People reveals it was Plaza’s heartfelt nod to hubby Jeff, who took his own life in early January. The casual look throwback mirrors their laid-back 2021 wedding, where they ditched traditional fancy wear.
“Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine,” Plaza shared on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2021. “So, I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us.”
Tragedy struck on Jan. 3 when Baena’s assistant discovered the 47-year-old had died by suicide at his Los Angeles home. Plaza later described losing him as an “unimaginable tragedy.”
Their love story kicked off in 2011, leading to marriage a decade later. The creative duo joined forces on several films, including Baena’s Life After Beth and The Little Hours. He made his mark co-writing the 2004 indie hit I Heart Huckabees and went on to direct gems like Joshy, Horse Girl, and his final work, Spin Me Round.
