Cardi B Locks Down $1.2 Million Deal in Tasha K’s Bankruptcy Case Over Defamation Verdict

Cardi B and Tasha K have reached a deal on bankruptcy payment terms.

After winning a $4 million defamation case in 2022, the 32-year-old rapper will receive nearly $1.2 million from the blogger (real name Latasha Kebe) over five years in monthly installments under a court-approved Chapter 11 plan, according to Rolling Stone.

Kebe’s payments will start at $176,532 in the first year and climb to $318,653 by year five over a 12-month period.

Though the plan covers less than the full judgment amount, Cardi keeps the right to go after the remaining balance after five years, potentially allowing her to garnish Kebe’s wages again.

Kebe also promised not to make “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” comments about Cardi or her family across any platform, including her podcasts and social media accounts.

Rolling Stone points out the agreement doesn’t stop Cardi from making statements about Kebe.

“Today marks the end of a multi-year long chapter of lies, deception, and fraudulent conveyance on the part of Tasha K, her husband, and their entities,” Cardi’s attorney, Lisa Moore, told Rolling Stone.

“We are thrilled to put in place such an incredibly unprecedented and protective plan for Cardi. I assume you will see the debtor and her swill counsel selling this as a win,” she added. “Trust me, for all of the reasons in the plan we insisted on to protect our client, that is not the case. We don’t believe the false tears, and we protect against them.”

Cardi, born Belcalis Almánzar, sued Kebe for libel and defamation in 2019 after the blogger falsely claimed she had herpes, used cocaine, and worked as a prostitute.

The Invasion of Privacy rapper testified in 2022 that Kebe’s claims made her feel “extremely suicidal.” During her testimony, Cardi said the rumors made her feel she couldn’t sleep with her husband Offset and that she didn’t “deserve” her daughter Kulture.

She also mentioned going to therapy because of the toll from claims made in Kebe’s videos on her Unwine With Tasha K YouTube channel.

Cardi’s legal team also accused Kebe of hiding assets during bankruptcy proceedings in 2023, with the blogger initially claiming her biggest asset was a 2021 Chevy Silverado worth under $59,000.

The repayment plan depends on her future earnings, including income from her husband Cheick Kebe’s company, Yelen Entertainment.
