Sexyy Red met rock icons Green Day backstage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards.
In a brief nine-second video she shared, the rapper is seen chatting with the band, with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong telling her, “You smell good.”

Another fun highlight from the night was Green Day accepting the Alternative Artist of the Year award. Billie Joe Armstrong delivered an acceptance speech that hilariously mimicked Mark Wahlberg’s character Dirk Diggler’s speech from the movie Boogie Nights.
Sexyy Red recently shared that her children recognize her music. “They don’t sit down [and] just play it, but my son—y’all know how kids just be scrolling on YouTube and stuff,” she explained. “I’ll be sitting there, and then I hear my song playing, like, ‘How did you end up on the video of my song?'”
“They know my music like, if I play my song or something, they know my voice. They look up like, ‘Mama, that’s you,'” she added.
In a recent Dazed interview, she discussed the challenges of fame: “Trying to live a normal life is difficult when you’re famous. Sometimes y’all be so annoying. If you see me with my babies bagging up groceries, then get the fuck away from me. No photos!”
She also expressed concerns about increasing visibility: “I feel like with me, the more famous I get, the more people will see me as a threat. As I get bigger and more viral, there’s going to be more and more people who want to harm me, 100 percent.”
Sexyy Red also addressed police racial profiling in St. Louis: “The police in St. Louis just shot another Black kid dead the other day. That shit’s so wrong. When I go back home, there are usually two outcomes [when I am stopped in traffic]: they either like your music and want to tell you about their kids being fans, or they choose to mess with you even more [now you’re this celebrity]! Sometimes they pick on me or just fuck with me for fun. They like to remind you of where you are. It’s all about reinforcing their position [of power].”
