Playboi Carti delivered a blunt “STFU” message to Ye (formerly Kanye West) early Wednesday. This unusually direct comment from the MUSIC creator came during Ye’s troubling string of X posts, which included dropping an unfinished version of his Bully album.
“YE STFU,” Carti wrote on X after Ye, who executive produced Carti’s 2020 album Whole Lotta Red. The comment followed Ye publicly criticizing Carti’s reaction to Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS “FINE SHIT” shoutout related to song lyrics, and then bringing Carti’s ex Iggy Azalea into the situation.

Within hours, Ye returned to X to target Carti again, calling him “a way more basic, dumber version” of the late Virgil Abloh. He also brought up Carti’s Instagram interaction with Kim, where Carti asked her to have their daughter North West send him a song.

A recurring subject in Ye’s latest social media posts has been Diddy, who remains jailed awaiting trial on trafficking and racketeering charges. Ye’s comments about the “Carnival” rapper included references to Cassie, who was captured in 2016 hotel surveillance footage being assaulted by Diddy during their relationship. On Wednesday, Cassie shared Carti’s “YE STFU” post to her Instagram Stories.

Jim Jones chose to show “love” to Ye despite being negatively mentioned in the Grammy winner’s recent social media posts. This follows Ye wearing a Dipset chain while hanging out with Jones in Tokyo.

Numerous other artists have been criticized by Ye recently, including Cardi B. While Cardi didn’t directly mention Ye in her X post, fans see it as her response while she continues building anticipation for her long-awaited follow-up to Invasion of Privacy.

Just months ago, it seemed likely that Ye would appear on Carti’s MUSIC album. The two have collaborated extensively, with Carti clearly being one of many artists heavily influenced by Ye who are currently making waves. But given these recent developments, Ye’s absence from the album’s guest features isn’t surprising.
