Former child star Madison Pettis is interested in portraying Mariah Carey in a potential biopic.
According to TMZ, the 26-year-old actress received very positive feedback for her 2023 Halloween tribute to Carey, where she recreated several of the singer’s iconic images and album covers.
When asked by paparazzi about playing Carey in a film or series, Pettis explained she did the Halloween tribute after many people told her she looked like the “Emotions” singer.
“I wanted to properly homage, I hope I did her well,” said Pettis, who starred with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 2007’s The Game Plan.
“If she does that biopic, I would love it,” Pettis added. “And I’ve heard she doesn’t want anybody to sing her vocals, because no one should. No one should touch those vocals, and I’m not a singer. So if we’re just talking acting, I would love to do it.”
When asked if portraying Carey would be her “dream role,” Pettis responded it would be “one of them.”
Carey has talked about wanting a biopic since at least 2020, following her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned plans to adapt her memoir into a miniseries or movie, though nothing has been officially announced yet.
