Future has shared a heartfelt response to the unexpected passing of his Freebandz artist, Young Scooter.
On March 28, the Atlanta rapper died on his 39th birthday after suffering a severe thigh injury from a fence that caused fatal blood loss. Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Rashaad Bailey, was running from police who had been incorrectly alerted about a domestic incident.
After an avalanche of tributes from Young Thug, ATL Jacob, Quavo, Offset and others, Future took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday (April 2) with a message for Scooter.
“Life will never b the same without u my brother,” Future wrote over footage showing the two during better days. “I love you my brother this shit unreal [heartbroken emoji].”
Future had earlier posted a tribute to Scooter, tweeting “I can hear u loud and clear my brother(street)…we got u kid.” There’s been confusion surrounding Scooter’s death for almost a week, with Young Thug seemingly suggesting the Atlanta Police Department was responsible. However, local officials have rejected claims that the rapper died from gunshot wounds.
The woman who contacted police, former Baddies cast member Demetria Spence, has been arrested and faces charges for transmitting a false public alarm. During the call, Spence claimed that several armed men were holding and severely beating a female victim in the house next to hers. Spence later posted on Instagram Story, insisting that the incident never happened.
