Tay-K’s former girlfriend testified Monday in the capital murder trial for the 2017 killing of San Antonio photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar.
Joanna Reyes, who said she was the rapper’s girlfriend at the time, testified she picked up Saldivar in an SUV supposedly for a photoshoot. That’s when Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, and three others allegedly tried to rob Saldivar of his camera gear before he was shot dead, according to KSAT.
Reyes claimed Tay-K and Jaylen Bell, one of the three men in the vehicle, were talking back and forth when Bell apparently confirmed the rapper killed Saldivar. “Jaylen applauded [Tay-K] and gave him a high-five. They high-fived each other,” she stated, adding that Bell allegedly said, “You caught your first body.'”
Reyes also claimed she saw Tay-K holding a gun while they were in the car. She stated that she didn’t report the incident right away when Tay-K supposedly threatened her and her family’s lives.
For her testimony, Reyes accepted a guilty plea for witness tampering. She’s looking at 10 years of probation and hasn’t been sentenced yet.
Back in 2019, Tay-K got 55 years for killing Ethan Walker. If found guilty in this current trial, the rapper could get life behind bars with no chance of parole.
