Ye revealed that Frank Ocean visited his home in 2016 to convince him not to back President Donald Trump during his first term.
During a livestream with Digital Nas, Ye talked about how the Channel Orange artist came to his place to discuss politics and urged him not to support President Trump or his MAGA movement back in 2016. According to Ye, Ocean has no business lecturing him about politics, especially since Ye is older. Ye also boasted about his superiority over other artists and dismissed their talents.
“Frank Ocean pussy ass come over my house talking about Trump all day and how I shouldn’t support Trump. N***a fuck you know about politics and n***a I’m your motherfucking senior, OG, y’all used to come on tour with me n***a,” Ye said. “None of you n***as can tell me about politics n***a. Fuck you think? You read a book and now you can tell me some shit?
He continued, “None of these n***as as talented. I’m the greatest motherfucking artist that ever existed. They can just be slightly better at one thing cause they only do that one thing.”
Ye stirred controversy in 2016 when he publicly backed Trump during one of his many Saint Pablo Tour rants. According to Ye, supporting and voting for Trump doesn’t mean he doesn’t stand for what’s right.
“[Voting for Trump] don’t mean that I don’t think that Black Lives Matter; that don’t mean I don’t believe in women’s rights; that don’t mean I don’t believe in gay marriage, that don’t mean I don’t believe in these things because that was the guy I would’ve voted for,” he told the audience.
Things escalated when Ye visited Trump in New York City later that year and continued supporting him in various interviews. He also wore the notorious MAGA hat during his White House visit with Trump in 2018.
