Will Smith showed off his impressive lung capacity while spitting bars for Lyrical Lemonade. On Thursday, Lyrical Lemonade dropped a video of the seasoned performer delivering a fusion of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” lyrics over Missy Elliott’s “Work It” instrumental.
Smith was at Lyrical Lemonade’s Chicago headquarters to make an appearance on the platform’s Lunch Break Freestyle segment. Besides the mashup, the 56-year-old star delivered another track. “I be overcoming shit that y’all be having trouble with / Let ’em run they mouth, I mean really, that’s what come with this,” he raps.
Another clip from Lyrical Lemonade captures Smith chilling at their headquarters, shooting hoops, gaming, and even performing in a comedy sketch.
Smith recently dropped his fifth album, Based On A True Story – Season 1: Rave In The Wasteland, featuring collabs with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean, Russ, and his son Jaden Smith, among others. Will Smith chatted with Complex about his first project in 20 years. When asked if Will the person is proud of Will the brand, Smith said, “Well, you can’t really be proud of a brand. You can, but you shouldn’t be. A brand is an idea, like ice cream—it’s something people enjoy. “But a man, that’s something real. And the man is unbreakable. The brand? That can fall apart. The man is ten toes down. There’s a song on the album called ‘Bulletproof’ that touches on this, about letting go of the pressure to sustain an image. I don’t want to hold up something that isn’t real. I want to be fully me.”
