It appears ASAP Rocky and Rihanna’s romance was brewing for quite some time.
In a Vogue video accompanying his cover feature, the Harlem rapper reflected on filming the “Fashion Killa” music video back in 2013, which starred Rihanna.
“I just hit up the flyest chick I know,” Rocky revealed around the 2-minute mark in the video. “I was like, ‘Yo RiRi, what’s good? You wanna do this video with me? I got the perfect song, it’s called ‘Fashion Killa.’ I’m basically talking about you—I drop your name in it.’ I ain’t even have to say all that. She was like, ‘Gang, I got you.'”
Rocky then confessed, “She knew she was my boo back then, too. I’ma come clean.”
“Fashion Killa” was featured on Rocky’s first album, Long. Live. ASAP., which dropped in 2013. That same year, he joined Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour as an opening act. But romance rumors didn’t start swirling until early 2020, after they were spotted together on the red carpet at the British Fashion Awards in late 2019.
By late 2020, their relationship seemed pretty obvious when they spent the holidays together in RiRi’s homeland of Barbados. Rocky finally made things official in May 2021, describing Rihanna as the “love of my life” during a chat with GQ.
The power couple welcomed their first baby boy, RZA, in May 2022, followed by their second son, Riot, in August 2023.
Earlier this year, Rihanna showed she had Rocky’s back by showing up in court during his gun assault trial, where he was ultimately found not guilty.
