Kodak Black’s Attorney Comments on Reports of Rapper Paying Rent for Hundreds in Florida: ‘What He Does Best’

Bradford Cohen—an attorney who frequently makes headlines and describes himself as a “lawyer to unfamous, infamous, and famous”—has spoken out about recent social media claims that Kodak Black paid rent for hundreds of people living in the Golden Acres community in Pompano Beach, Florida.

In an Instagram post, Cohen, who has also worked with Lil Wayne and Drake among other big names, pointed to this reported act of generosity as Kodak “doing what he does best, giving back to the community.” According to Cohen, this is just one example of many similar actions.

“He’s done so much that isn’t even in the press,” Cohen wrote while sharing a screenshot of a recent article about Kodak. “Paying for funerals and kids’ college funds, law school education, food, air conditioners during heat waves, supporting fallen FBI agents even when one of their own has continually harassed him.”

Cohen then revealed he had a personal connection to Golden Acres involving a lawyer who previously represented the community in a dispute related to trespassing.

Over the past few days, various social media posts have been spreading the news that Kodak covered rent payments for more than 200 Golden Acres residents for at least two months. These posts referenced a statement from a social media account belonging to someone named Vince Thompson, though it wasn’t immediately clear how this person is connected to either Golden Acres or Kodak.

Complex has reached out to both Cohen’s office and a representative for Kodak for comment. Updates to this story may be coming.

This reportedly isn’t Kodak’s first time giving back to his community. In 2022, the Gift for the Streets rapper collaborated with the Zachariah McQueen Foundation to cover rent for families who were facing eviction in the West Palm Beach area. The year before that, video showed the 27-year-old artist delivering air conditioning units to Golden Acres residents.

“We do it for the projects,” he stated at the time.

This weekend, Kodak will be performing at the Grabba Gang 4:20 event at Mana Wynwood. Check out more details here.
