Twitch streamer Marlon recently ended up in the ER after accidentally getting Gorilla Glue in his right eye.
On Tuesday (April 27), the streamer, whose real name is Marlon Lundgren Garcia, went live sporting an eyepatch and told his viewers what happened.
“It’s been bad bro, to be honest,” he explained, according to Dexerto. “All trolling aside… I woke up one day and my eye was super, super red. I’m not one to go to the doctors, so I said, ‘Fuck it, it’ll work itself out.’ That was my left eye.”
“It sort of disappeared that day, but when I woke up the next morning it was my right eye, and it was completely red,” he went on. “I was like, ‘What the fuck is going on?’ I couldn’t stream because it was so painful. My eye was gradually closing.”
At an urgent care facility, Marlon described his symptoms and realized he might have touched his eye after his hands had come into contact with Gorilla Glue days earlier. A doctor immediately sent him to the emergency room and cautioned that he could lose his sight if toxins from the adhesive had penetrated his eye tissue.
Marlon, who had recently relocated to the United States from Sweden—a country with universal healthcare—found himself completely bewildered by the American medical system and didn’t know how to proceed.
Later, doctors informed him they weren’t certain if they could save his eye, given that he allegedly waited a full day before seeking medical attention at urgent care.
“They basically said, ‘For now we’ll give you this treatment, but honestly we don’t know if it’s going to improve or not.’ They couldn’t make any promises because it was that severe and it’s progressing too far,” Marlon explained. “That’s been my life for the past couple days. I haven’t been able to check any social media—nothing at all.”
Marlon’s predicament brings to mind the notorious 2021 case involving Tessica Brown, who went viral after using Gorilla Glue instead of hairspray. Brown’s hair became permanently stuck to her head and eventually required surgery to correct.
