Nathalie Emmanuel returned to Notting Hill Carnival for its landmark 60th anniversary, once again making it clear which Caribbean islands she was proudly representing.
The Game of Thrones star took to the streets of London in full mas, proudly carrying the flags of Dominica and Saint Lucia as she joined a Carnival that, according to Time Out Worldwide, attracted an estimated two million revelers over the weekend.
Emmanuel shared photos from the celebration, posing in an elaborate jeweled costume surrounded by deep red feathers, with both island flags flowing behind her. She also highlighted her heritage in her Instagram caption, writing, “Reppin’ 767 and 758 forever,” a reference to the telephone area codes for Dominica and Saint Lucia. She gave fellow Dominican photographer Kage credit for the photos and added the hashtag “#60yearsandcounting.”
This year’s Notting Hill Carnival held even greater significance as the event celebrated 60 years since its beginnings in 1966. The festival grew out of efforts to build community and celebrate Caribbean culture in a part of London where members of the Windrush generation had experienced racism and discrimination.
Six decades on, Carnival has grown into Europe’s largest street festival, transforming West London with mas bands, steel pan performances, sound systems, dancing and Caribbean cuisine.
The 2026 festivities also featured a 72-second period of reflection in memory of the 72 people who lost their lives in the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire. Police described the atmosphere throughout the anniversary weekend as “overwhelmingly positive and celebratory.”
For Emmanuel, though, showing love for her Caribbean heritage at Carnival is nothing new. At the 2025 Notting Hill Carnival, she once again carried the flags of Dominica and Saint Lucia while playing mas in a purple-and-gold Airam Tribe costume. “@nhcarnivalldn is my happy place 🇱🇨🇩🇲,” she wrote at the time.
In a separate post, she also celebrated designer Tiffanni T and Airam Tribe, describing it as “always a privilege” to wear their costumes and adding, “The talent and execution is undeniable.”
