50 Cent has launched a legal fight over the upcoming horror movie SkillHouse.
According to TMZ, the multi-talented star filed a lawsuit Thursday against Ryan Kavanaugh, a film financier who created the GenTV entertainment platform. To support its 2024 launch, the company released the first eight minutes of SkillHouse on GenTV.com, which names 50 Cent as an actor and co-producer.
Fif reportedly joined the movie project in 2022 and has appeared in its trailers and other promo materials.
Jump to April 2025, when 50 posted a series of Instagram messages voicing his opposition to SkillHouse‘s release. As noted by AllHipHop, Fif claimed he never signed a final agreement with Kavanaugh and his team, hinting he was prepared to take legal action if they wouldn’t cancel the movie’s July 11 release.
“This guy Ryan Kavanaugh is doing everything in his power to make me kill this movie,” 50 Cent claimed in a now-deleted post. “This one is going in the trash CAN!”
“They can’t release this MOVIE SKILL HOUSE without my signature, which they do not have,” he wrote in another Instagram. “What kinda business are they doing? I’d hate to have to demonstrate.”
According to court documents, 50 agreed to appear in the project after he and the producers outlined the preliminary terms. But he claims the deal was never finalized because he never signed a final contract, meaning Kavanaugh didn’t have permission to use Fif’s name and image for the film.
Fif, meanwhile, said he wasn’t interested in the project unless he could provide “creative input,” per TMZ. He reshared the outlet’s article in a Thursday Instagram post and claimed he still hasn’t been paid for his SkillHouse work.
“I didn’t get paid,” he wrote. “I’m afraid I’m gonna need that by Monday. You already know the vibes!”
SkillHouse is set in a fictional content house where 10 influencers are forced to participate in deadly social media challenges.
“SkillHouse has been a game-changing film project from the start—one that is exciting and gripping for social media users and horror fans of all ages,” Kavanaugh said in a press release. “SkillHouse is more than just a horror film, the project fits perfectly with current times and smashes boundaries by tapping into the power and appeal of influencers and weaving them into the story.”
SkillHouse was directed and written by Josh Stolberg (Saw X, Jigsaw), and stars Bryce Hall, Neal McDonough, HannaH Stocking, Paige VanZant, and Emily Mei.
