Bow Wow has finally come clean — he was totally “fake flexing” when he posted that private jet pic while actually flying coach back in 2017.
During his chat with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Bow Wow opened up about celebrity frustrations, saying “Not being able to live freely. Everybody judges you knowing they’re doing the same thing — it just ain’t televised.”
When the conversation hit the two-hour mark, he finally addressed his infamous jet photo fail that sparked memes and the viral #BowWowChallenge across social media.
Right after that chat about fame’s downsides, Bow Wow and Sharpe dove straight into that infamous private jet fiasco. “I got caught, simple as that,” Bow Wow admitted with a shrug. “I was fake flexing. Didn’t think nothing of it.”
The rapper then broke down his actual motivation behind the stunt — and it wasn’t just about showing off. He wanted to throw people off his trail since he’s famous. “I saw the picture. I’m about to post this because I don’t want people to know how I’m moving. And I posted it to derail people,” Bow Wow explained.
The rapper explained that after dropping the post, he just hit the sack thinking it wasn’t anything wild. But when he got busted, he wasn’t even mad—he actually took the L like a champ. “You know how many rappers lie? Y’all caught me this one time. Never again. It’s over,” Bow Wow joked.
“I’m normal and I make mistakes and I can own up to it,” he continued. “You know how many jets we’ve been on since then?”
It’s pretty cool that Bow Wow can look back on that viral moment with some chill in 2025, because when it went down…man, it was brutal. Bow Wow got exposed back in 2017 after sharing a pic implying he was on a private jet, but that image looked weirdly similar to a promo shot from the FLL VIP Trans company’s website down in Florida.
Someone sitting near the rapper on the commercial flight dropped a photo that completely blew up his spot.
This wasn’t even Bow Wow’s only questionable flex, unfortunately.
That same year, he posted a suspicious video claiming fans were chasing him down, but many folks think those “fans” were actually paid to run after him.
Back in 2021, Maino shared a funny story about hanging with Bow Wow after partying at a New York club—and if this isn’t peak fake flexing, what is?
“He like, ‘Yo, my car is around the corner,” Maino remembered on his Kitchen Talk podcast. “We get around the corner and my car is parked right where I thought his driver was at—where he said his driver was at. So I seen a black truck. He’s like ‘My car’s right there.’ I’m like, ‘Cool.’ We standing there talking… I guess, like, maybe somebody was waiting for me to leave first or we just vibing. And then he’s like, ‘Yo, I’m out.’ And when he went to leave, I’m like, ‘Oh, he jumping in the truck.’ He went into the street and flagged down a taxi cab… I thought this was your driver?”
