Reality television personality Sidney Starr was arrested on Sunday, August 2, after authorities responded to an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile at a hotel in the Atlanta area. Starr, whose legal name is Sidney Favors, is facing several felony charges, including aggravated child molestation, sodomy, and sexual battery involving a child under 16.
The Hapeville Police Department informed Fox 5 Atlanta that the incident took place at the Embassy Suites located in the 3400 block of International Boulevard. “As a result of the investigation, Sidney Favors (Sidney Starr), a reality television celebrity, was arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses related to an alleged sexual assault involving a juvenile,” the department stated.
Starr was taken to the Fulton County Jail after the arrest and remained in custody as officials continued handling the case.
Authorities have provided limited information about the alleged incident at the hotel, including the events that reportedly led to Starr’s arrest. “Because this case involves a juvenile, no additional information will be released from our agency,” the Hapeville Police Department told Fox 5 Atlanta.
The department added that the investigation has been handed over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
As of this writing, Starr had not publicly addressed the allegations.
Starr, 37, is a transgender model, actor, and social media personality who has built a career through appearances in reality television and scripted shows. She appeared on Season 9 of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York, where her pursuit of a music career became part of her storyline. She also made history as the first transgender woman to appear on Wild ’N Out.
She later appeared on the Zeus Network’s Baddies ATL and Baddies, while also returning to Wild ’N Out on MTV. Starr has taken on smaller acting roles in Fox’s Star and the network’s music drama Empire.
Earlier in her career, she gained major attention after falsely claiming she had a romantic relationship with rapper Chingy. Starr later withdrew the claim and apologized publicly, admitting that the story was fabricated.
No further details about the juvenile involved have been released, and police have not confirmed whether Starr has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
