Kanye West Claims Shopify Owes Him $4 Million: ‘Who Do You Think Shopify Is Ran By’

Ye claims Shopify is withholding a substantial sum of his funds.

The artist previously known as Kanye West posted about the issue on Saturday, stating, “Shopify is currently holding 4 million dollars of mine.”

“Just to put it in question form. Who do you think Shopify is ran by,” he wrote in a separate post.

While Ye’s implications in his follow-up comment aren’t entirely clear, Shopify co-founder and CEO Tobias Lütke hasn’t addressed his tweets on his X account.

The online Yeezy store, previously hosted on the well-known e-commerce platform, was removed after the rapper—who declared he is “a Nazi” and expressed his “love” for Hitler—pointed fans toward a swastika t-shirt during a regional Super Bowl commercial in February.

In a statement provided to CBS MoneyWatch, a Shopify representative confirmed that Yeezy.com was removed for violating platform policies.

“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify,” read a statement.

Ye previously maintained a profitable collaboration with Adidas, which started in 2016 and produced the hit Yeezy sneaker collection.

The sportswear company once described it as, “the most significant partnership ever created between an athletic brand and a non-athlete.”

Nevertheless, Adidas ended their agreement in October 2022 following Ye’s string of antisemitic statements.

“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the statement read at the time. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.”
