On the eve of releasing her highly anticipated “Type Dangerous” music video, Mariah Carey stirred up excitement with a cheeky social media post hinting she was still putting on the final touches.
“Working on meeting delivery deadlines (fashionably late, of course)!” the 56-year-old diva captioned a photo shared on Thursday, June 12. In the snap, she flashes a smile from a green room alongside iconic director Joseph Kahn, rocking a plunging leather dress and dazzling diamond earrings.
It’s been a whirlwind week for Mariah and the Lambily — from the single’s drop on June 6, to her show-stopping BET Awards performance on June 9, and now the video set to debut Friday, June 13.
Mariah Carey’s “lambs” couldn’t hold back their excitement after her playful teaser post went live.
“Excitedddddddd,” one fan gushed in the comments.
“You’re looking so gorgeous Mimi and I’m so excited about the video,” another swooned.
A third added, “OMG WORKING WITH JOSEPH!!!! YAS!!!! AHHHH!”
Director Joseph Kahn jumped in on the hype too, taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, June 11, with a three-part post tagging Mariah. “Cancel your booty calls Friday night, you’re going to [be] busy watching Type Dangerous,” he teased. “There will be an earth shattering surprise…I’m not kidding. Brace yourself lol.”
Carey has been fueling fan anticipation since June 2, when she dropped a cryptic Instagram Reel zooming in on an “MC16” license plate—a nod to her upcoming sixteenth album—and the question “What’s your type?” before the track title was even revealed.
She continued the buildup with a casino-themed teaser on June 9, giving fans a taste of the glamorous visuals to come.
At the BET Awards, music legend Mariah Carey lit up the stage with a stunning performance and walked away with her very first win — the Ultimate Icon Award. “If you’re gonna get one, might as well start with the Ultimate Icon Award,” she joked during her acceptance speech, according to Cosmopolitan‘s June 10 report.
She left the crowd with a powerful message: “Love and respect yourself. Be a diva, be a boss, be anything you wanna be — but be iconic while you’re doing it.”
