18-Year-Old Charged in 2025 Murder of Project Pat’s Son

An 18-year-old has been indicted in connection with the shooting death of Memphis rap legend Project Pat’s son.

[Local Memphis] reports that Jermiesia Franklin is facing two counts of first-degree murder, along with aggravated robbery and tampering with or fabricating evidence for allegedly taking Patrick Houston Jr.’s cellphone following the killing.

Franklin was just 16 years old when the shooting occurred and is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on a $5 million bond.

She is also facing separate charges of attempted second-degree murder and using a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony stemming from an unrelated September 2024 incident.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Talia Jones was arrested over her alleged role in Houston Jr.’s death. She faces charges of aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. According to police, Jones allegedly assisted in the killing, while investigators identify Franklin as the person who fired the shots.

Franklin and Jones are both scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16, with their joint trial currently scheduled to begin Sept. 21.

The case dates back to Jan. 10, 2025, when Memphis police responded to a shooting call and found Houston Jr. fatally shot. He was just 21 years old.
