Ciara says there’s no drama between her and Rihanna anymore.
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she was asked about their short-lived feud from 2011 and brushed it off with grace. “We were babies,” Ciara said. “Now we’re mamas doing our thing. It’s all love.”
She also gave a sweet nod to Rihanna’s pregnancy, adding, “Shoutout to mamas out here.”
“Cici got a lot of love for Riri,” she said, making it clear any past tension is long gone.
Back in 2011, rumors of a feud between Ciara and Rihanna caught fire after Ciara appeared on Fashion Police and claimed Rihanna was less than friendly at an event. “I ran into her recently at a party, she wasn’t the nicest,” Ciara said. “It’s crazy, because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done in fashion. It wasn’t the most pleasant run-in.”
Rihanna didn’t hold back, firing off a now-iconic tweet: “My bad ci, did i4get to tip u?”
Ciara clapped back with, “Trust me Rihana u dont wanna see me on or off the stage.”
But Rihanna’s final response sealed it as a legendary moment in internet history: “Good luck with booking that stage u speak of.” The clapback still gets reposted to this day.
By 2013, Ciara had cooled off and addressed the situation in a radio interview, saying she didn’t hold any beef. “I think she’s nuts right now! Like whatever’s going on, because for me it doesn’t make any sense,” she said. “I don’t have beef with anybody, but I’m not going to be disrespected either.”
Still, she wished Rihanna well: “I don’t know what her problem is. She has a lot of good things going on with herself… I’ve always said I’ve been happy for her. I don’t get it. I really don’t, but I wish her well. I wish her positivity.”
Fast forward to May this year, Ciara and Rihanna were spotted together at the Met Gala—putting a full-circle moment on what once was a heated back-and-forth.
