Diddy Trial: Attorney Seeks $1 Million Bond Release Following Split Verdict

Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, is pushing for the mogul’s release on a $1 million bond following the split verdict in his federal trial, according to Inner City Press.

On Wednesday, Diddy was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution but cleared of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. In response, Agnifilo requested that Judge Arun Subramanian grant bond and allow Diddy to travel between Florida, New York, and Los Angeles while awaiting sentencing.

Marc Agnifilo informed Judge Arun Subramanian that, if released, Diddy would reside at his Two Star Island home in Miami—the same property that was previously raided by federal agents. Prosecutors pushed back on the request, citing concerns over Diddy’s alleged involvement in drug use and violent behavior.

Diddy has been behind bars since his arrest in New York last September, but now has a chance to walk free as early as Wednesday, pending the judge’s decision on bond. His legal team repeatedly called for a mistrial, and the jury’s verdict on the racketeering charge reportedly came down to the wire, with deliberations nearly ending in a deadlock.

The government rested its case on Tuesday, while the defense chose not to present any testimony. Though Diddy didn’t take the stand, he addressed Judge Subramanian directly, saying, “I want to tell you thank you. You’re doing an excellent job.”

With his conviction on the transportation charge, Diddy now faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
