Diddy’s Legal Team Assures Court He Won’t ‘Commit Prostitution Crimes’ if Granted Bail

Diddy’s legal team has pushed back against claims that he would seek out escorts if granted bail.

Following the split verdict on Wednesday, July 2—where the music mogul was acquitted of all charges except two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution—his attorneys submitted a six-page letter requesting a $1 million bond. In the document, they firmly stated that Diddy would not “commit prostitution crimes” if released and rejected the government’s claims that he poses a danger or is a flight risk.

“With all due respect, that suggestion is unsupported,” the letter read, noting that authorities had a “pen register on his phone” for an extended time.

“Mr. Combs never called any potential escorts or prostitutes,” it continued. “Nor did he make any effort to arrange meetings with escorts or prostitutes, nor was he with Jane [Doe] in New York. In any event, reasonable conditions would ensure that Mr. Combs would not have the ability to arrange meetings with escorts.”

At the heart of the case was the alleged solicitation of prostitutes, with former partners Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and Jane Doe testifying about their involvement in “freak-offs” with Diddy and hired male sex workers. Jurors were also shown videos of these sex parties during the trial.

Following Diddy’s arrest last September, a federal agent claimed that items commonly used during these encounters—including Astroglide lubricant and baby oil—were discovered in his New York hotel room.
