Dua Lipa is taking legal action against Samsung, accusing the brand of using her image on product packaging without permission.
According to Variety, the lawsuit was filed on Friday (May 8) in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. In the filing, Lipa claims Samsung has been using a photo of her performing at the Austin City Limits Festival on its TV packaging since 2025.
She says she reached out after discovering the image, asking for it to be removed—but alleges that Samsung refused.
“Ms. Lipa’s face was prominently used for a mass marketing campaign for a consumer product without her knowledge, without consideration, and as to which she had no say, control, or input whatsoever,” the complaint states.
The lawsuit also points to the impact of her likeness, highlighting social media posts from fans who claimed her image influenced their decision to buy the TVs.
“I wasn’t even planning on buying a tv but I saw the box so I decided to get it,” one post read.
“I’d get that TV just because Dua Lipa is on it,” another said. “That’s how obsessed I am. That’s how much I love her.”
Lipa’s legal team argues that she has carefully built a “premium brand” and is very selective about endorsements. The suit includes claims of copyright infringement, violation of California’s right of publicity, a federal Lanham Act violation, and trademark infringement.
So far, the singer has not publicly commented on the case.
