Brooklyn drill artist BOE Quahh, born Quahmir Cruz, was tragically shot and killed over Mother’s Day weekend at just 18 years old.
According to the New York Daily News, the fatal shooting happened on Blake Avenue near Mother Gaston Boulevard in Brooklyn, close to the young rapper’s housing complex.
Despite being shot, BOE Quahh reportedly remained conscious for some time before later dying at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. His brother, Daiveon Cruz, revealed he personally carried him onto the stretcher when paramedics arrived.
“When I found him, I had to carry him and put him on the stretcher,” he shared. “That was my best friend. My first friend.”
On Tuesday, the rapper’s mother, Danielle Cruz, spoke emotionally during a balloon release held in his honor.
“My heart is broken into pieces,” she said. “I miss him so much. I feel like a piece of me is gone.”
The young artist was reportedly employed at the Van Dyke Community Center and also worked construction jobs. CAMBA chief executive Valerie Barton-Richardson spoke highly of Cruz, describing him as a caring and driven young man focused on building a better future for himself and those around him.
Cruz’s stepfather shared, “His dream was to put me and his mom in a mansion.”
His grandmother also remembered him fondly, saying, “He was an incredible young man. He told me he loved me.”
The heartbreaking loss has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning. Our condolences go out to everyone affected during this painful time. This story is still developing, and more updates may emerge later.
