If there was ever any uncertainty about A$AP Rocky’s NBA loyalty, the Harlem rapper has made it crystal clear that his heart belongs to the New York Knicks.
During a conversation with GQ’s Sasha Mutchnik, seemingly held amid the excitement of the Knicks taking a 2-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, Rocky spoke passionately about his connection to the team.
“I’m from New York, sweetheart,” Rocky said. “I ain’t no Knicks fan. I am a Knick.”
The comment made it clear that Rocky views his relationship with the franchise as something much deeper than ordinary fandom, embracing the team as part of his identity.

A$AP Rocky isn’t just supporting the Knicks now that they’re winning. The rapper has been showing his loyalty throughout the team’s playoff run and was recently seen celebrating with fans after one of their biggest victories.
Following the Knicks’ Game 5 series-clinching win over the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden last month, Rocky joined fans outside Melba’s restaurant in Harlem to celebrate. When the “Crowtown Express” Knicks bus arrived, he grabbed a basketball and started shooting around with the crowd.
At one point, Rocky even channeled his inner Jalen Brunson, tossing alley-oop passes to fans who jumped into the impromptu street game.
In other Rocky-related news, the rapper recently joked that he could out-rap New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has his own history as a rapper.
Speaking with Vibe, Rocky playfully challenged the mayor, saying, “Mamdani ain’t fucking with me. Listen, I’m already coming for his spot ’cause I’m about to be mayor. So listen, if he want to battle, we could do that. If he want to have a little debate, we could do that too, man.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Rocky reflected on the emotional impact of a frightening shooting incident that took place at the home he shares with Rihanna.
“It was fucked up. It was hurtful,” Rocky said. “It was scary, all that shit. Somebody attempted at me and my family. That shit was just fucked up and it was unprovoked. It was out of nowhere.”
The rapper added that the ordeal left a lasting impact on him and his loved ones as they worked through the aftermath of the incident.
