Brandy Brings Her Hollywood Success Back Home to Mississippi

Brandy’s celebration tour is heading back to where it all started. After receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and enjoying the success of her bestselling memoir PHASES, the Grammy-winning singer and actress is set to return to her hometown of McComb, Mississippi, on July 6 for a special community event honoring her remarkable career.

According to local CBS affiliate WJTV, the celebration, hosted by the McComb Main Street Association, will be held during a special edition of Live at Five in the city’s downtown Arts and Entertainment District. Brandy will receive official recognition from both the City of McComb and the Mississippi Legislature. The event will also feature a live performance by Grammy-nominated blues artist Mr. Sipp, followed by a public after-party nearby.

For local leaders, the celebration is about honoring someone who has never lost touch with the community that helped shape her journey.

“Welcoming Brandy back home to McComb in this fashion, in the heart of the McComb Downtown Arts and Entertainment District, is exciting,” said Justin Lofton, vice president of the McComb Main Street Association.

Lofton also praised the Norwood Foundation, founded by Brandy’s family, for its positive impact on his own growth and thanked the organizations that worked together to make the celebration happen.

McComb Main Street Association Executive Director Brandon Andrews said the event couldn’t come at a better time.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Brandy back to McComb to celebrate her already legendary career,” Andrews said. “After recently receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this is the perfect opportunity for her hometown to honor one of its own.”

The hometown tribute comes during one of the most successful periods of Brandy’s career in recent years. In March, she became the 2,839th person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where she reflected on achieving a lifelong dream.

“Back then, I was just a little girl with a big dream,” Brandy said during the ceremony. “Seeing the stars on the Walk of Fame lit something in me… I said, ‘I’m going to sing my way onto one of these stars.’ And I did.”

Her momentum has only continued with the release of PHASES, which quickly reached No. 1 on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list. In the memoir, Brandy opens up about defining moments from both her personal life and career, sharing her perspective on chapters that have long drawn public attention.

Brandy is also set to remain in the spotlight this summer as part of the 2026 Essence Fest lineup in New Orleans, where she’ll perform alongside fellow R&B stars Monica, Patti LaBelle, and Kehlani during the festival’s concert series.
