Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan built massive online followings while drawing constant criticism for their controversial views on women and male dominance. Now, however, their focus has shifted from internet backlash to mounting legal issues. According to The Associated Press via Newsday, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested the brothers in Miami on Saturday, July 18, on a sealed warrant, agency spokesperson Brady McCarron confirmed.
The U.K. is seeking their extradition over rape and sex trafficking allegations. The brothers were previously arrested in Romania in 2022 on similar charges, although that case was later delayed due to procedural complications.
TMZ reports that the latest arrest took place at the James L. Knight Center, where Andrew Tate was scheduled to co-host the IBA Bareknuckle 6 boxing event. As of publication, the specific charges tied to their latest arrest have not been disclosed.
According to an anonymous source who spoke with AP, Andrew and Tristan Tate are expected to appear in federal court in Miami next week. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, said he had not yet spoken with the brothers but dismissed the U.K. allegations as “filth and slander,” claiming they are intended to undermine the pair’s defamation lawsuits in the United States.
“They’re pulling out all the stops to make sure these guys never get their day in court,” McBride reportedly stated. “We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
On Saturday, the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service reportedly announced 38 additional charges involving four new alleged victims. The latest accusations come on top of the previously disclosed charges linked to three other women.
British prosecutors are seeking the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate over allegations of rape and sex trafficking said to have taken place in the U.K. between 2010 and 2017. The brothers relocated to Romania in 2016, where they were arrested in 2022 over separate allegations of sexual exploitation.
Last year, the pair received permission to travel back to the United States and later flew to Florida. They have denied all allegations and charges against them. Both brothers are facing multiple counts, including rape and sex trafficking. Andrew Tate is also reportedly accused of profiting from prostitution, along with additional offenses involving indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
