There’s a special place in Rick Ross’ new home reserved for an award he has yet to win. Despite spending two decades in Hip Hop and receiving nine Grammy nominations, the Miami rapper has never taken home the prestigious trophy. Now, he’s hoping his latest album, Set in Stone, will finally help him change that.
In an Instagram Stories update on Thursday (Oct. 22), Ross thanked fans for keeping him in the conversation ahead of the 2027 Grammy Awards. As the first round of voting approached its close, Rozay reflected on his history with the Recording Academy and admitted that winning a Grammy remains one of his goals.
“You know, this is a game I’ve been in over 20 years,” he said, “I’ve been nominated multiple times. Maybe nine, maybe possibly 10. I’m not really sure.” The MMG founder then made his wish clear, adding, “I’ve never taken home a Grammy. So, you know, I’ve got a new crib, a new spot. I’ve got a spot waiting for one.”
Ross submitted his July album, Set in Stone, for consideration in both the Best Rap Album and Album of the Year categories. He also put forward “Minks in Miami,” his collaboration with French Montana and Max B, for consideration in multiple categories, including Song of the Year. According to the Recording Academy, Ross has received nine Grammy nominations but has yet to secure a win. His first nomination came for his appearance on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. His 2012 album, God Forgives, I Don’t, later earned a Best Rap Album nomination at the 2013 ceremony.
Ross’s latest Grammy recognition came in 2023, when DJ Khaled’s “GOD DID” received three nominations, including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. However, Ross isn’t taking another nomination for granted. His Instagram message primarily focused on thanking fans for supporting Set in Stone, whether by purchasing the album, streaming it, or spreading the word.
The next major date is November 16, when the Recording Academy will announce the nominees for the 2027 ceremony. If Ross earns a spot on the list, he’ll get another opportunity to end his Grammy drought when the awards take place on February 7. Final-round voting kicks off December 10, leaving Recording Academy members to decide whether Rozay will finally fill that empty space in his new home.
