Kanye West faced major AI-related controversy during the rollout of BULLY, with many fans expressing disappointment over what they believed they were hearing. Before the album’s release, Ye stated that he planned to re-record all of his vocals in an effort to remove any AI elements from the project.
However, the AI controversy has resurfaced through a new lawsuit. Court documents reveal that an anonymous producer claims to have contributed to both Vultures 2 and BULLY.
The producer, identified as John Doe, alleges that Kanye West reached out on August 1, 2024, just two days before Vultures 2 was released, requesting assistance with “extensive production and vocal production services.” The work reportedly involved creating 400 individual vocal generations and 13 AI voice models. The producer claims that five tracks on Vultures 2 featured these AI-generated elements.
The producer also claims that he worked with Ye again on BULLY during the fall of 2024. John Doe alleges that he has still not received credit for his contributions to either project. According to the lawsuit, he was offered a “master buyout,” but claims the agreement never moved forward.
At this point, Doe is seeking $110K in damages. He claims that a total of seven released tracks featured his uncredited work and believes the requested amount would be appropriate compensation.
Doe has not publicly commented on the lawsuit, and Kanye West has also remained silent on the matter. As fans may recall, West has faced several legal disputes in recent times, including a sexual assault lawsuit involving a former employee that he recently settled.
