Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has been arrested for the third time in about 18 months after Texas authorities took him into custody Friday (Aug. 21) on allegations of driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession, and unlawful firearm possession.
BigX, whose real name is Xavier Darnell Landum, was booked into the Collin County Jail.
According to CBS News Texas, Allen Police Department public information officer Sam Rippamonti confirmed the arrest, telling reporters, “At this time, we can confirm that an arrest has been made. However, we are unable to provide any additional details.”
The arrest came exactly one year after BigXthaPlug was previously taken into custody in Dallas on Aug. 21, 2025, over marijuana possession and unlawful firearm possession charges. At the time of his latest arrest, he was reportedly still out on bail for those previous charges.
The 2025 incident happened after Dallas police pulled over a pickup truck on South Great Trinity Forest Way near U.S. 175 due to a missing front license plate. When officers asked Landum if he had a firearm, he confirmed that he did and showed them where it was located inside the vehicle. A criminal database later flagged him as having an alleged connection to a gang in Arlington, which made firearm possession a legal issue. Police also discovered a small amount of marijuana during the stop.
The latest arrest also affected his touring plans, forcing BigX to miss his Friday night performance at the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Organizers explained on Instagram that he was absent due to a “personal emergency” while recognizing fans’ “disappointment and frustration.”
