Kanye West has released plenty of new solo music and collaborations this year, but fans are always hoping for even more from the influential artist. When it comes to potential collaborations, many supporters have wanted to see Ye reconnect with artists and longtime collaborators after confirmed or rumored conflicts. Mike Dean has been one of the names fans have wanted to see him reunite with, and Kanye recently gave another hint that he may be open to working together again.
According to Bars on Instagram, Kanye came across a tweet shared on Saturday, August 22, by user @Yeezus49. The post referenced an old 2018 message from Ye that read: “creatives need each other.”
The user shared a photo of Kanye and Mike Dean from the iconic 2016 The Life Of Pablo event at Madison Square Garden, adding, “That’s why we need Ye and Mike Dean back together, the perfect duo” (translated from Portuguese).
Ye later reposted the message, sparking speculation that the two could be preparing to collaborate again or may have already been working together. It could also simply be a message directed toward Mike Dean, and fans may have to wait until either artist confirms any future plans.
Mike Dean previously denied having any beef with Kanye West in October of last year. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he said, “We’re cool. We’re just not working. There’s no intense beef or anything. If we saw each other, we’d probably hug and say hello and then keep moving. Yeah, there’ll be a time when we probably get back together. Who knows when? That’s a heavy question.”
For those unfamiliar, rumors of tension between Mike Dean and Kanye West reportedly came after Dean spoke out about Ye’s controversial statements and issues involving antisemitism, Nazism, George Floyd, and other topics in 2022. However, his social media comments were not especially direct. The situation appears to have been more about distance between the two rather than a serious personal fallout.
Whether Kanye West and Mike Dean will return to the studio together remains uncertain. However, with BULLY and Ye’s other projects and moves this year, a reunion cannot be ruled out. If he hopes to bring Mike Dean back into the fold, Kanye may need to take further steps toward repairing past issues.
