Social media detectives are connecting a few bars from Lil Uzi Vert’s “Yoko” to an old story involving Lil Yachty, leading some fans to wonder if the track contains a subliminal diss.
On the song, Uzi raps, “Count up a yacht, that’s a boatload,” before following it with, “Open my door, saw a boat froze.” The references to a yacht, a boat, and opening a door immediately reminded some listeners of an awkward encounter Yachty previously shared about Uzi.
During a 2025 livestream with PlaqueBoyMax, Yachty recalled unexpectedly running into Uzi after leaving the studio early one morning.
“I ran into Uzi, like, how long ago?” Yachty said at the time. He initially guessed it had happened about a month earlier before correcting himself to two or three weeks. “I was leaving the studio, tired as hell at seven o’clock in the morning. I opened the door, and he was in the car.”
Yachty explained that he had mistakenly opened Uzi’s car door, thinking it belonged to another vehicle. After apologizing, he said Uzi simply replied, “Wrong car.” Yachty then closed the door and went on his way.
Despite the awkward encounter, Yachty used the story to dismiss rumors that he and Uzi were beefing.
“I ain’t got no problem,” he said, before adding that he didn’t have an issue with Playboi Carti either. “We’re grown men. We’re just older now. We are just living our own lives, getting our own money.”
Now, Uzi’s “open my door” lyric has fans questioning whether they remember that encounter the same way.
Speculation about Uzi and Yachty’s relationship has been around for years. The two came up around the same time and were both part of XXL’s 2016 Freshman Class, but they have never released a collaboration. Yachty has previously described their relationship as more competitive than hostile, while both rappers have repeatedly downplayed rumors of serious beef.
Social media made a similar assumption in 2024, when a snippet surfaced with lyrics that once again referenced the word “boat.” “N***as, they put my swag in they notes / I was on a yacht in the goddamn snow / B***h, I’m Lil Uzi, I’m not Lil Boat.”
Yachty did respond to that speculation online, writing, “[You] guys are delusional.” He continued, “[You] n***as go around living your life acting like [you] know us. S**t is od weird, y’all be grown men too… On here tryna piece s**t together, don’t be knowin’ nothing. Get a job.”
For now, Uzi has not confirmed that the “Yoko” lyrics have anything to do with Yachty. Still, the similarities to Yachty’s story have given fans plenty to debate.
