Several hip-hop artists online have been celebrating Lil Durk’s not guilty verdict this weekend, but the reaction has been very different from his rivals, including Tekashi 6ix9ine. Instead of joining the celebrations, Durk’s enemies have found themselves facing trolls and criticism over their reactions to the acquittal.
The New York rapper took to his Instagram page to address Durk’s victory, making it clear that he still had plenty of material to use for trolling, despite his previous predictions that Durk would receive a life sentence not coming to pass in the Los Angeles trial.
In the video, Tekashi and a friend popped bottles of champagne and drank as elaborate fireworks lit up the background. Several luxury vehicles also appeared in the footage, while the caption hinted at where his latest round of trolling was headed.
6ix9ine mocked Lil Durk by pointing out that the Chicago rapper still faces another trial on racketeering-related charges. He also took shots at the deaths of Durk’s friend King Von, his cousin Nuski, and his brother DThang, while celebrating the lives and freedom of himself, Lul Tim, who has been accused of killing Von, and Quando Rondo, the target of the 2022 shooting at the heart of Durk’s case.
6ix9ine’s name also surfaced during Lil Durk’s trial, with prosecutors and witnesses arguing that the rapper’s comments about King Von’s death helped motivate Durk to take action. The situation sparked plenty of trolling throughout the proceedings, including 6ix9ine taking shots at DJ Akademiks for allegedly “going hard” in support of the Chicago rapper. Tekashi argued that Durk would not be as friendly toward Akademiks as he may think, while Ak rejected the claim and suggested it was simply an attempt to deflect from 6ix9ine’s own hypocrisy.
As for Lil Durk’s upcoming trial, the case involves racketeering-related charges connected to a 2022 Chicago murder and a 2019 shooting in Atlanta. He is currently scheduled to stand trial on October 5, assuming the existing schedule remains unchanged. In the lead-up to the proceedings, prosecutors and defense attorneys are expected to debate potential bond arrangements.
The latest 6ix9ine video comes as little surprise, considering he had already planned a “going-away” party for The Voice in the event of a guilty verdict. DJ Akademiks previously claimed that Tekashi allegedly spent $100K on the planned celebration.
