A$AP Rocky is currently on his “Don’t Be Dumb” world tour, and on Monday, the rapper made his way to Stockholm, Sweden—a city that holds significant history for Rocky, particularly because of what happened there in 2019.
Back in 2019, Rocky was arrested and held in Sweden for nearly a month following an alleged altercation. The situation even prompted then-President Donald Trump to weigh in on Twitter, famously writing: “Get home ASAP, ASAP.”
Rocky eventually returned home and made his way back to Sweden just a few months later for a comeback performance. On Monday, he visited the country again for the first time in seven years, marking a celebratory return for the artist.
There are plenty of artists who might swear off ever returning to a country where they were incarcerated, and it’s easy to understand why. No one would be surprised if Rocky decided Sweden carried too many unpleasant memories for him.
His return to Sweden comes during what has been a successful year for the artist. After finally releasing Don’t Be Dumb, Rocky embarked on one of the year’s biggest tours, drawing sold-out crowds across the United States, Canada, and now Europe. His Stockholm performance is another indication of the strong demand surrounding the rapper at the moment.
