“She should stick to Rap” was Janice Dickinson’s verdict after watching Cardi B make her way down the runway at Vogue World: Milano. The former supermodel shared footage from the event in a video of her own and gave Cardi’s runway walk a harsh 2 out of 10.
Dickinson took issue with everything from Cardi’s stride to her arm movements. “She doesn’t know what she’s doing,” she said. “I understand using celebrities to promote your clothes. Cardi B is waddling down the runway.” Dickinson said the performance lacked the technique associated with professional runway walking before adding, “She’s not a supermodel. She’s a rapper!”
The comments came after Cardi appeared at the Sept. 22 Vogue World show at Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. According to Vogue, she walked during the show’s “Patterns” section in an archival Versace dress from the fashion house’s spring 2018 collection. The pop-art-inspired design featured vintage Vogue covers and paid homage to Gianni Versace’s earlier work.
Dickinson may have acknowledged that fashion houses often bring celebrities onto the runway, but that didn’t do much to change her opinion. “It’s not a runway walk,” she said before giving Cardi the low score.
This wasn’t Cardi’s first experience modeling at a major fashion show. She made her runway debut in December 2023 during Balenciaga’s pre-fall 2024 presentation in Los Angeles, walking outdoors in an oversized blue fur coat. Her Vogue World appearance came as part of a show that deliberately blended professional models with celebrity appearances. Vogue’s event coverage also included appearances by Jennifer Lopez and J Balvin.
Cardi seemed far more thrilled about the experience than Dickinson was. In an Instagram post following the show, she thanked Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace for having her, describing the opportunity as a “dream” and “a moment I will never forget.”
