Mike Tyson has disclosed that he sent a letter to President Donald Trump at the request of Diddy.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on Thursday (Oct. 8), the former heavyweight boxing champion discussed writing to the president on behalf of the embattled music mogul, who is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence following his sex-crimes conviction.
When Cohen asked whether he was still friends with Diddy, Tyson acknowledged that he remained “friendly with Puff,” referring to Sean Combs’ former stage name.
Cohen followed up by asking, “Were you surprised by what happened with him?”
“Listen, I was surprised that they went through so many lengths to get him,” Tyson replied. “They used a 110-year-old rule \[The Mann Act\] to get him — that case 110 years ago, but they used it to get him. Can you imagine that?”
The 60-year-old former boxer also confirmed that he had been in contact with Diddy while the music mogul was behind bars.
“I spoke with him once on the phone, yes,” Tyson said. “He wanted me to give a letter to the president.”
Although Tyson did not reveal the letter’s contents, he confirmed that he followed through on Diddy’s request. “I did what he told me to do, yeah,” he stated.
Tyson’s letter may have been intended to support Diddy’s bid for a presidential pardon. In January, President Trump confirmed receiving a pardon request from Diddy, which could be the correspondence Tyson was referring to. However, Trump indicated that he would not grant the request.
Diddy is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix and has reportedly returned to solitary confinement following reports that he had been using a cell phone in prison and purchasing luxuries, including massages and alcohol.
Meanwhile, his projected release date has been moved to March 2, 2028, after previously being scheduled for Jan. 21, 2028.
