Selma Blair Arrested for Allegedly Biting Flight Attendant While Trying to Open Aircraft Door

Selma Blair was arrested over the weekend following an incident aboard a Delta flight traveling from Los Angeles to New York.

On Sunday (Oct. 11), the 54-year-old actress allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another while attempting to open the plane’s door mid-flight, according to TMZ. Crew members reportedly restrained Blair until the aircraft landed at John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens, New York.

A dispatch call from the flight, which can be heard below, captures an employee requesting medical assistance for two individuals involved in the incident, including someone believed to be a passenger.

Officers were waiting at the gate when the plane landed at around 11 p.m. The Cruel Intentions star was taken into custody before being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

One flight attendant reportedly suffered a laceration, while the other was bitten. One of the two crew members received medical treatment at a hospital.

According to TMZ, Blair allegedly struck a Port Authority police officer in the head while being transported to the hospital. Upon arriving, she reportedly assaulted a nurse, who has since filed charges against her.

The actress now faces two federal assault charges related to the flight attendants, according to Page Six, along with two state assault charges involving the police officer and the nurse. However, Blair’s representative described the incident as a “medical emergency,” adding that their client is now in “stable condition.”

Delta Air Lines issued a statement to Variety, emphasizing its “zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior” and reaffirming its commitment to the safety of passengers and crew members.

Blair was also removed from a flight in June 2016 after arriving in Los Angeles from Cancun with her then-4-year-old son. The actress later described the incident as a “total psychotic blackout” during an appearance on The Talk, according to People. She attributed the episode to drinking alcohol and taking a pill while on the flight.

“It was horrible and frightening and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother,” she said at the time.
