Dylan Sprouse has uncovered some shocking details about his family’s potentially incestuous history after taking a genealogy test.
The actor, who is the twin brother of Cole Sprouse, made the revelation during the Tuesday (Oct. 20) episode of the Wildmen podcast. He claimed that the siblings are “children of incest,” explaining that he made the discovery through the DNA testing service Ancestry.
Around the two-minute mark of the video below, Dylan explained that his family’s history dates back to the Gold Rush, when one branch of his relatives struck gold and relocated from North Carolina to California. Both sides of his family eventually settled in the state during the 1800s.
“Get this: the families marry in California in the late 1800s. And then they diverged. And then they married again… with my mom and my dad, like last generation,” Dylan said.
His co-host, Brendan Columbus, then asked whether Dylan’s parents shared the same grandparents, which the actor appeared to confirm.
“It’s my dad and my mom. They had no idea,” he said. “So, then I’m looking at this, and I go, ‘What the hell?’ A lot of stuff started to make sense.”
Dylan jokingly recalled trying to show his brother a picture of their family tree, only for Cole to refuse and hang up the phone.
He also revealed that he had previously assumed identical twins were common on his mother’s side of the family. However, conversations with relatives on his father’s side revealed a similar pattern.
“We have seven sets of twins in four generations, which is crazy. That’s a lot of twins,” Dylan said. “The reason why we have a lot of twins is it’s the same family!”
The actor also shared a disturbing story about his great-aunt, who he claimed had “eaten” her twin while still in the womb. According to Dylan, doctors later opened a cyst on her shoulder and discovered teeth and hair inside, which he suggested may have belonged to the unborn sibling.
In July 2023, Dylan married actress and model Barbara Palvin. The couple welcomed their daughter, Sylvie, last month, who, unlike her father, does not have a twin.
