Lily Allen Suddenly Cancels Concert Due to ‘Viral Infection’

Lily Allen has unexpectedly canceled her concert scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The singer shared the news on Instagram Stories on the day of the performance, revealing that she had “come down with a viral infection” and was “unable to perform.”

“I was really looking forward to seeing you all and am absolutely gutted to be letting you down,” Allen wrote in her post. “For those who traveled all the way here, please accept my apology.”

She also confirmed that fans who purchased tickets for the canceled show will receive refunds.

The concert promoter, Frontier Touring, also confirmed the cancellation by reposting Allen’s Instagram Stories announcement on its own account.

“Wishing @lilyallen a speedy recovery,” the caption read.

According to Rolling Stone Australia, the concert would have marked Allen’s first performance in New Zealand since 2019.

The singer is currently touring in support of her 2025 album, West End Girl, which features scathing yet vulnerable lyrics alluding to her separation from Stranger Things star David Harbour.

In a recent interview with The Times, the English singer-songwriter discussed how the album’s commercial success has affected her life.

After completing a series of North American shows, Allen said she was “just happy, in a good place.” Speaking ahead of the tour’s final leg, she told the publication, “I’m living in the day, not planning too much.”

“I feel like I’m here: a single mum supporting two teenagers on my own. I don’t need to be taken care of any more,” added the “Smile” singer, who shares daughters Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 13, with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper. “There’s definitely a sense of liberation in that.”

“There’s always going to be a part of me that wants a happy ending — but also, not really. I’m starting to see through that,” Allen added.
