Blue Ivy Carter Surprises Jay-Z With Piano Performance During His First L.A. Tour Show

Blue Ivy Carter took charge of the piano for her dad, Jay-Z, as he launched the first night of his L.A. JAŸ-Z30 tour shows.

On Friday (October 23), Hov took the stage at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, performing live versions of hits from across his decades-long career, including “Hard Knock Life,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” “Dead Presidents,” and more.

Among the special guests who joined him onstage were Scarface, DJ Khaled, and John Legend. However, his eldest daughter also had her moment in the spotlight, playing piano as Jay-Z performed “The Story of O.J.” and “Dead Presidents.”

The 14-year-old has also joined her mother, Beyoncé, onstage for dance performances during both The Renaissance World Tour and The Cowboy Carter Tour. Blue Ivy previously showcased her piano skills during Jay-Z’s Yankee Stadium residency in July, playing the melody to “Feelin’ It,” a song from her father’s 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

During a March interview with GQ, Jay-Z praised Blue Ivy’s musical abilities, while revealing that his daughter doesn’t want playing the piano “to be a job.” Jay-Z and Beyoncé are also parents to twins Rumi and Sir.

“She worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do. I don’t think we’re going to be able to get her off that stage now,” Jay-Z told GQ.

The rapper is set to return to SoFi Stadium for a second and final night on Saturday (October 24). He is also reportedly in the running to perform at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on February 14, 2027.
