It appears that Nicki Minaj’s influence may not have delivered the outcome Republicans were hoping for. Over the past year and several months, Nicki has increasingly aligned herself with the right, shown support for Donald Trump, and developed a close relationship with Erika Kirk. After joining Trump on the campaign trail in recent weeks, she reportedly appeared outside Pinkerton Academy in Derry, a polling location in New Hampshire, according to NBC 10.
Nicki wasn’t the only celebrity bringing star power to the swing state. Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, Mike Tyson, and Floyd Mayweather were also spotted in New Hampshire during the midterm elections.
Some have suggested that the celebrity appearances may have had the opposite effect of what Republicans intended. Democratic candidates in New Hampshire went on to win both House and Senate seats.
Jasmine Crockett recently weighed in on Nicki Minaj’s growing involvement in politics during an interview with TMZ. Although she didn’t directly launch into an attack against the “Super Bass” rapper, she used the opportunity to highlight the importance of using one’s platform and influence for meaningful causes.
“We should all be using our voices to make an influence on what’s taking place in this country,” she said, referencing the reporter’s mention of Nicki’s citizenship status. “You talk about her not being a citizen. There are a lot of non-citizens right now that are being rounded up by ICE. We have a record number of deaths in ICE custody. We know that ICE has been… terrorizing our communities. So while I don’t appreciate what Nicki is up to, I do want other people to say, ‘You know what, I should be using my voice,’ because what is taking place is impacting all of us.”
Crockett went on to explain why she disagreed with Nicki’s recent political activities, adding, “I don’t appreciate Nicki because I feel like everything that she’s doing is about herself. And it has nothing to do with us collectively but anybody that is looking out for someone more than just their personal interest, then I absolutely want them to use their voices.”
