Drake Drops Mysterious Message About Artists “Talking Out the Side of Their Mouth”

Drake is back with another sharp Instagram caption aimed at artists who take shots at him publicly.

On Saturday (August 2), the Toronto rap star shared a photo on his feed, pairing it with what sounds like a lyric from his upcoming album Iceman:

“My first thought when they get to talking out the side of their mouth is never fear or doubt…it’s they obviously got an album coming out,” he wrote.

With Drake’s name being mentioned left and right these days, it’s hard to know exactly who he was referring to in his post. One possible target could be Waka Flocka, who recently had his DJ spin Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “Nokia” during a performance at SeaWorld San Diego. When “Not Like Us” wrapped, Waka shared his take on the rappers’ feud.

“Alright, I feel like Kendrick won, but I’m still a Drake fan, man,” he told the crowd.

But not everyone is throwing shade at Drizzy. Bas and DJ Paul have both come to his defense after Ebro Darden criticized the superstar on Apple Music.

Responding to an Instagram clip from The Ebro Show, where Ebro ranted about hip-hop coverage while expressing frustration with Drake, Bas praised the rapper’s influence on the culture.

“Drake is among the most, if not the most, inclusive of artists our culture has put forth,” Bas wrote. “Pushed countless rappers to the forefront, dancehall artists, afrobeats artists, R&B artists, reggaeton, older artists, newer artists etc.”

He continued, “I don’t get this ‘culture’ narrative that’s persisted since the battle. If it’s the Canadian thing, Toronto a hour flight from NYC lol. I’d argue their culture and ethnic makeup is more akin to NYC than pretty much any city in the States. NYC, Toronto, London are a triumvirate culturally. Surely it’s not his pen? He’s arguably the greatest writer of a generation. So what is it?”

DJ Paul also showed love to Drake, calling him the “best artist I’ve ever worked with.”

“His power is unbelievable,” the Three 6 Mafia legend added. “One track with him in 2019 totally rebirth my production to other big artists.”
