Ozzy Osbourne’s Cause of Death Confirmed as Heart Attack

The official cause of death for rock icon Ozzy Osbourne has been confirmed just two weeks after his family announced his passing.

According to his death certificate, obtained by The New York Times, Osbourne died from “out of hospital cardiac arrest” and “acute myocardial infarction.” The document also lists artery disease and Parkinson’s disease as contributing factors.

The NYT noted that his daughter, Aimee Osbourne, was the one who signed off on the certificate.

On July 22, the Osbourne family shared the heartbreaking news with fans, saying, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Last week, Sharon Osbourne and her children gathered in the streets of Birmingham — Ozzy’s hometown — for a heartfelt memorial ceremony. Surrounded by fans, the family viewed a tribute site filled with flowers, photos, and messages honoring the Prince of Darkness. The emotional moment saw the Osbournes leaning on one another for support as they quietly thanked fans for the outpouring of love.

Just two weeks before his passing, Ozzy hit the stage one final time for the Back to the Beginning concert, reuniting with his Black Sabbath bandmates for a historic performance. It marked the first time the core members had shared the stage since 2005. The epic show also featured performances by Metallica, Slayer, and Guns N’ Roses, and was livestreamed to millions of fans across the globe.

Since the memorial, the Osbourne family has remained private but showed clear appreciation for the support, offering brief nods of thanks to the crowd gathered in Birmingham.
