A Florida man says his faith saved his life after a stray bullet struck the cross pendant he was wearing around his neck.
According to Fox 25, 20-year-old Aidan Perry was accidentally shot in the chest by a .40 caliber pistol while visiting a friend’s house in Ocala this past June.
Perry was rushed to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where doctors performed surgery and credited the cross necklace—a Christmas gift from his father—for sparing his vital organs from serious damage. Instead, the bullet went through his arm, leaving him with a broken humerus.
Speaking with Fox 35, Perry admitted he thought he was going to die after seeing “tons of blood.” He added, “It’s just kind of a reminder now to never stop believing. Keep believing, and God’s definitely real.”
Trauma surgeon Khafra Garcia Henry called Perry “a very fortunate young individual,” noting that without the chain, “the outcome would have been completely different.” Henry explained that in Perry’s case, the bullet ricocheted off the pendant instead of entering his chest wall.
The man who allegedly fired the gun by accident has since been arrested and charged with culpable negligence causing injury.
